A little Mother’s day outing for us, taking my Mum to the Ashmolean museum in Oxford for the special Andy Warhol exhibition. I have always been such a fan of his work, and the pop art era.
So what a treat this was, to see his works from all the years, and to see different pieces to ones I have seen before. Instead of the usual Marilyn Monroe and Heinz Beans works, we saw different pieces spanning his life, some film and also sketches and drawings.
There were the classic Warhol type pieces on display, but this exhibition taught me so much about his life that I never knew and his key influences on his work. Got a few postcards as inspiration, again to pop in frame in the studio, but to also remind me of his diversity of work. A really good visit if you get chance.
I wasn’t able to take any photos in the exhibition as it was prohibited, but I did pick up some postcards and was able to capture a gorgeous Saturday morning in Oxford while having coffee and a croissant in the roof top cafe.
